Jammu, Oct 7:
In another shocking strike against minority Hindus and Sikhs in Kashmir, terrorists shot dead two teachers in Government Boys Higher Secondary school downtown Srinagar.
An official said that terrorists barged into the school in Sangam, Eidgah in Srinagar and shot dead two teachers from point blank range.
They have been identified as a Sikh woman Satinder Kaur who was principal of the school and a Hindu Dalit teacher Deepak Chand, who belong to Jammu.
“The pistol-wielding men came into the school this morning and asked for the identity cards of the teachers and later fired at two teachers, one each from the minority Sikh and Hindu community”, said a teacher who didn’t reveal her name.
Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh on Thursday said the recent killings of civilians in Kashmir Valley were part of a conspiracy at the behest of Pakistan to disturb communal harmony and spread terror.
"Terrorists are targeting people who want to serve humanity," the DGP said while asserting that security forces and citizens will continue to foil Pakistan's designs.
He said, "The aim of the terrorists is to disturb communal harmony and spread terror. That is why, they are targeting innocent people. This is a conspiracy to defame Kashmiri Muslims."
Another part of the conspiracy is to target people from other states, who come to the Valley to earn their livelihood, Singh said.
In reply to a question, the DGP said other staff members of the school are in a state of shock.
"We have talked to them and have some idea...," he said.
The DGP said, "Police are working on these target killings. We have got some lead in earlier cases and will find the killers."
For the last one week seven civilians were killed in Kashmir, three of them minority Hindu and Sikh communities. An official said that this year 25 political workers and civilians killed were killed this year in a series of target killings. Two teachers killed in firing by militants in a school in J&K’s Srinagar
