Jammu, Sept 23:
Alleging conferment of multifarious facilities by the present regime to ex-MLAs/ex-Ministers and even petty workers of BJP to the exclusion of all other political parties, Mr. Harsh Dev Singh, Chairman-JKNPP & former Minister said that J&K provided the most glaring example of patronized corruption and mis-rule. He expressed his dismay over the open violation of SOPs and guidelines in the matter of allotment of government accommodation so as to confer undue and illegitimate benefits upon the political persons owing allegiance to a particular party. It was shocking to note that BJP leaders who were not holding any position in government and fell in common man’s category were occupying not only ‘Special Type’, ‘A-type’ Estates mansions but many of them were still living in Ministerial Bungalows. And while the opposition leaders including ex-Ministers and heads of recognized political parties were hounded out of Estates quarters’ years back through police force, the said BJP workers were allowed to retain the same thereby providing the most glaring example of present govt’s dictatorial and autocratic policies besides being indicative of patronized corruption in BJP rule. He was addressing a press conference in Jammu today.
He said that a reply received by him yesterday in response to RTI reveals that several BJP workers who never became even a Sarpanch in life time have been allotted Estates Bungalows which continue to be retained by them without paying even a single penny as rent. He said that RTI reply has further revealed startling revelation with regard to arrears of rent of the BJP leaders with Mr. Sunil Sharma ex-Minister’s outstanding rent amounting to Rs. 2,44,408/-, ex-MLA Dalip Parihar owing Rs. 80,408/-, ex-MLA Sat Sharma Rs. 66,660/- ex-MLA Rajesh Gupta Rs. 58,200/- ex-MLC Pardeep Sharma Rs. 52,291/-; BJP leader Hina Bhat Rs. 84,640/; BJP worker Tarik Ahmed Keen, Rs. 88,872; Mtr. Hasina Rs. 52,379/-; BJP General Secretary Manohar Lal Rs. 87,034/- besides others. Mr. Singh said that as and when the issue of illegal occupation of Estates quarters was raised by the public and the media, the Estates Department issued notices of eviction as an eyewash and window dressing for the gullible. He said that despite five consecutive notices issued by Estates Department to the said un-authorized occupants since 21-02-2018, the much needed eviction had not been effected due the collusion between officers and such illegal occupants.
Seeking a probe by ACB into the illegal occupation of government property by un-authorized persons, Mr. Singh said that NPP would hold dharna outside Anti Corruption Bureau and CBI against the brazen loot and abuse of public property and exchequer by the corrupt leaders in connivance with their sycophant officers.
Not only the Estates Bungalows but the security vehicles and PSOs were also being allotted purely on political considerations, said Singh. He pointed out that all the ex-MLAs and ex-Ministers of BJP were provided security vehicles and a huge paraphernalia of security personnel while denying bare minimum security to opposition leaders. He said that the heads of recognized political parties has also been divested of their due security by withdrawing their escorts, vehicles as well as security PSOs despite facing militants’ threats. The security agencies had withdrawn the security cover of majority of opposition leaders and allotted the same to even the small time lower rung workers of BJP. He reminisced that only recently a report had been made public that a BJP worker of Kashmir had been provided as many as ten PSOs. Likewise many other insignificant people had been provided huge security at public expense in the most arbitrary manner purely on the whims and fancies of the helmsmen.
Seeking a high level probe into the whole gamut of security allotment, Mr. Singh called for punitive action against the officers who were acting more as BJP servants than public servants. He said that non adherence to any set of norms and differential treatment of political parties by abusing of public exchequer and conferring benefits upon favourities was not only a crime but a financial scam which needed due attention of the Lt. Governor and Chief Secretary of the UT.
Gagan Pratap Singh, State Secretary, Surinder Chouhan, District President Jammu (Rural), Rakesh Gupta, Provincial General Secretary & Nirmal Kishore were also present in the press conference.
