Lt. Governor orders installation of Face Recognition Bio-Metric attendance system for employees

Jammu, October 13:

To ensure discipline and punctuality of employees, hindered by covid-19 pandemic which has gravely affected the functioning of various government offices, Jammu & Kashmir administration headed by Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha has ordered installation of Face Recognition bio-metric attendance system in Union Territory.

After the eruption of pandemic in March, government has discontinued the use of bio-metric attendance system to mark attendance.

Having regard to SoPs in place for containing the spread of the covid-19 Pandemic, Bio-metric attendance was suspended in all Government offices across the Union Territory.

Accordingly, all the Administrative Secretaries have been directed to advise their officers/officials in the Civil Secretariat to mark their attendance through Face Recognition Bio-metric Attendance Systems from October 19.

Heads of the Departments/Field Offices shall adhere to the above instructions and ensure installation/operation if the Face Recognition Bio-metric

“Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has observed that in order to ensure discipline and punctuality of Government employees in offices, it is important that some objective attendance mechanism is put in place for marking of attendance”, says an order issued by General Administration Department (GAD).

Meanwhile in view of the emerging situation due to Corona Virus pandemic and in the interest of administration, Talat Parvez Rohella, Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, Higher Education Department, shal, in addition to his own duties has been placed as overall incharge at Lakhanpur to oversee the movement of passengers, ensure fast testing and smooth flow of entry and exit of vehicles.

Arun Kumar Manhas, Project Director, Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, in addition to his own duties, shall assist Talat Parvez Rohelia. The officers shall remain

stationed at Lakhanpur, with immediate effect, till further orders.
